   @msbellows @MsMerope @Gorfram @ai6yr @douglasvb @cvvhrn We had tinsel, snow, used pHisoHex and pHisoDerm, and more. Dad decided the solution to dentists was to make us chew fluoride pills. Mom wanted perfect plants, so she used toxic pesticides, including DDT, getting furious whenever one was banned. I remember when lead paint was defended for its bright colors.

   Was the flocking we used to make snowy window scenes using stencils toxic? Who cared? Not parents.

   OTOH, I was trained to run some water out of the faucet before drinking any, to reduce its lead content.

   We inhaled leaded gasoline at every fill-up with those nozzles without a system to suck the vapors back into the tank.

   So, with all of the above, our parents gave us guns to play with.

   All of this was the birth swaddling of rock & roll.
