I love that in Australia it’s completely normal to see birds that look like they belong in the rainforest on your morning walk through a suburban part of a non-tropical city.
On the excellent BirdLife Australia Instagram one of their scientists recently talked about how Australian birds might be so bright because many tens of thousands of years ago a lot of Australia was covered in rainforest.
