   My problem with authoritarianism is, the people doing the authoritarianing... are people, too. What's stopping somebody from the "most people literally cannot be trusted to rule themselves" class from ruling the rest of us? Other people? Who are statistically also from the "most people literally cannot be trusted to rule themselves" class?
   
   This situation is completely circular: "People can't be trusted. So put people in charge... people who can't be trusted."
   
   "Well we can't NOT have a government, we'll be ruled by warlords -- who might tax us 40% of our income, trans our kids, target the majority race for extermination while convincing them for generations that fighting back is racist..."
   
   Seems like civilization itself is a no-win scenario. Seems like the agricultural revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
