Taiwan History: Three Camps Framework [projected slide] ❖ Modernist Camp 現代派: Focus on moving towards a shared future of Taigi for all on the island, regardless of identity as Chinese or Taiwanese. Represented by the MOE standards. ❖ Etymologist Camp 本字派: Desire to reconstruct the "original" characters. Focus on the place of Taigi in the broader Pan-Chinese history. ❖ Localist Camp 當地派: Desire to employ local orthographic solutions. Focus on establishing Taigi as an independent entity. Some prefer usage of POJ (Cockrum 2022, 2023)
