Anaru felt Palmer bore a share of the blame. Replying to Palmer, she wrote that “the majority of my rage is directed at Neil.” But she couldn’t understand why, with all Palmer knew about Gaiman, she had sent Scarlett into that situation. “Did you not see this coming a mile away?” She added, “And yes I know you asked him not to do that to her, but honestly, the fact you even felt that was something you should ask is fucked up in ways that defy comprehension.”

I went back and finished it and REALLY wish I hadn't. What I excerpted was in the bottom quintile of horrible. Even if 50% is lies and 80% is embellished, I think this bit says it all.
Imagine saying to your (then-ex) partner, "Not this one. She's too fragile." What are you confessing?
Maybe she's trying to prove to herself that he is redeemable, but a part of her has to know his kink is dominance and betrayal. Her ask is worse than meaningless, it's practically a dare.
