The playback controls look how player controls looked ages ago before all the app devs decided to be fancy, flashy, and obnoxious. Simple play/pause, skips, shuffle, repeat, volume. It's all there.

Here's Spotify-qt vs the "official" Spotify app. Which one would you choose? (and yes, QT does lyrics, I just don't have them enabled right now)
