A colorful illustration. In the center is a Japanese waitress and an obvious tourist saying "Sumimasen! (Excuse me) Eigo no Menyu? (English Menu)" The text says: "Oh No! What to do if you can't read Japanese menues: Most places nowadays (in bigger cities like Tokyo, Osaka etc.) offer english menzes as well! Just ask! But beware english menues often don't show everything that a restaurant has to offer. If you're not sure what to get you can ask for "Osusume" (Recommendation)."

When I was in #Japan for the first time I was extremely anxious about entering restaurants, because where I lived, nearly nobody spoke English, there were no English signs and no translation apps. (I didn't even have internet on my phone back then.) My #Japanese was ok-ish, but I still couldn't read Kanji. So this was how I managed anyway.

Today it will be much easier, because (esp. in big cities) they are prepared for foreigners and will give you an english menu right away. #MastoArt
