Tweet from Amnesty International @amnesty "The death in custody of Walid Daqqa, a 62-year- old Palestinian writer who was the longest- serving Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails after 38 years of imprisonment, is a cruel reminder of Israel’s disregard for Palestinians’ right to life" Image of Walid Daqqa from amnesty.org 72 Readers added context they thought people might want to know: This post omits important information and context: Daqqa was convicted of commanding a group that abducted and killed an Israeli soldier, Moshe Tamam, in 1984. When Moshe was found dead, his eyes had been cut out and parts of his body were cut off him, including castration.

@inthehands The problem here is that the ICC and Amnesty adjust their processes and words to fit the accusation, not the other way around.

For instance, Amnesty quite literally changed the definition of genocide to fit the accusation. Additionally, they champion people like Walid Daqqa.

Meanwhile, the ICC both lacks jurisdiction in the Israel / Hamas war (due to both the status of the territory and conditions of the Oslo Accords), and ignores far more open and flagrant violations of human rights by countries such as North Korea, Iran, and Syria.

These double-standards and shifting definitions to fit accusations, rather than accusations to fit definitions, is in itself antisemitic.
