/r/confessions reddit post: I found out that my girlfriend is intellectually disabled and it's really freaked me out. We've been dating for about 6 months now and I just found out that she is considered mentally handicapped by the state and tests at a very low IQ. She is prohibited from getting a drivers license. In hindsight I probably shouldn't be surprised, there were signs. I've witnessed her being unable to operate simple technology, being unable to do basic math, not being able to understand a lot of things or asking me very strange questions like "why is the earth round?" or "why can't penguins fly like other birds?" She's a very kind and caring person and I like our relationship. Otherwise she's pretty normal and can take care of herself. I'm not freaked out because I think less of her I'm just afraid of people finding out and making fun of her or saying that I'm taking advantage of her sexually or things like that. I'm not sure what to do and it's unnerving.
