Although it’s been the means for me to find so many remarkable people that have enriched my life for the past decade, people like you Molly, my sense is that it’s time to leave Twitter behind for good. It doesn’t seem that a great alternative has appeared and I hate to miss out on finding new people, art and ideas, but staying on the site that burnishes Musk and his toxicity is no longer viable for me. I’m curious if you intend to remain, and if so, how do you rationalize that decision? Molly White ·Author·6 days ago It’s been a tough call and it’s something I re-evaluate pretty regularly. Twitter is one of around three platforms I use in roughly equal amounts (alongside Mastodon and Bluesky), and these days is mostly just a destination for my POSSE-d posts. For me, the decision to stay has mostly hinged on the fact that it more feels more impactful to continue to be a voice against the madness there than it would be to leave. You can argue that my presence benefits Musk and his cronies in some way (I don’t pay for Twitter or directly support the company in any way — the blue check is foisted upon me and not paid for — but certainly using the platform does supply some amount of ad revenue), but it also allows me to be a continued thorn in their sides.
