Two galaxies after a head-on collision. The galaxy to the left has a bright white core surrounded by very fuzzy gas and dust. The matter becomes more diffuse farther away from its center. The galaxy on the right has brown, dusty filaments around a fuzzy white core. This core is surrounded by a roughly ring-shaped area of of light blue stars. The ring is flat on the top and sides, and irregular at the bottom, roughly forming a triangle. There are red pockets of gas and young blue star clusters dotted around the ring. Several positions on this ring have dotted pockets of red. There are orange, red, and white galaxies strewn throughout the background of space, which is black.

The current form of the space triangle on the right is due to a gravitational tug-of-war with the galaxy to its left. These galaxies, captured by Hubble, are known as Arp 143. They have been bonded since they collided millions of years ago: https://bit.ly/3ASVQ8a
