Seriously, what is that? That outer, light-colored layer (not the crust but the next thing in)... is that bread? It kind of looks like bologna, TBH.
To this day, I've never tried an unfamiliar dish that was supposed to be a German thing and disliked the result. Maybe this one will be the one? TBF... they've always been bread-, meat-, potato-, and/or egg-based, or it's been a dessert. And obviously a national cuisine is going to be broader than that, so I'm obviously missing much.
