A Mountain Maple armchair with an upholstered tan suede seat. The back piece is a root of the tree that had been exposed in a road cut. There is a rock on the right side that the root grew around, claiming it as its own. The root took quite a bit of cleaning and sanding to get the look I wanted. Time well spent. Unfortunately I had placed it on consignment in a Jackson, WY gallery, which went belly up. The owner absconded with the chair. I informed the sheriff, but nothing came of it.I hope whoever has it enjoys it as much as I would have. I’m not particularly talented or gifted with any of this d.i.y. stuff, but it does take time. Time not spent on internet devices, time not spent making what John Fire Lame Deer called ‘green frog skins’, just to spend them on things to fill the void left by a disconnect with nature. It’s not so much about the end product as the process of doing.
