   so i said i wouldnt check the fediblock hashtag. i am not going to. i received this DM from an eldritch.cafe mod after trying to explain the situation i'm in. they said they wouldn't explain any further so yea, idk. i have some questions about their points they are making.

   1. "based" is racist, or anti-lgbt, anti-woke, etc... depending of context. Anyway, you cannot use it. Period. Some people can, in a specific context, but you are not part of them.

   what is this "specific context"? i dont understand this.

   if you're on about what I said to are0h like a year ago? yes, it was in bad taste, and it was wrong of me. i dont see how "based" is a racist word though.

   You cannot demand forgiveness.

   I am not. im asking for an explanation on how this "based" word is "racist", but no one can explain why. therefore, i dont see a problem with using it.

   "this is double standard" : they are part of the people who can use it.

   so non-binary white ppl can use it? so you're saying that if you're queer or non-binary you can use it? i genuinely dont understand. why are they allowed to use it but im not?

   Asking repeatedly to involved people is not okay.

   anyway, until eldritch.cafe can explain what this "context" means or if someone else can, I am posting a #fediblock of eldritch.cafe for falsely accusing me of racism.

   indeed, the #fediverse is more closed-world than open-world. you see this in the so-called "rejection" of json-ld among presumably the majority of fedi implementations. because for the most part, AS2 lets you ignore json-ld. it only matters for extensibility, and (specific criticisms of json-ld aside) json-ld also mostly allows you to ignore it.

   so why do people still complain about it?

   well, there is the concept of "context" in json-ld, which represents shared understanding.

   this is something i saw happen here recently that i'd just like to offer a #psa on so we don't get all birdsite brained abt it

   when you're debunking a fashy myth, do not repeat the myth. no, i don't care if it's for the purpose of debunking. you are only spreading their disinformation for them.

   you can talk about what they are saying without repeating the bigoted agenda.

   just for example lets say you want to debunk their hatred of floride in the water. you don't need to repeat all the antisemitic, homophobic reasons they hate it in the water. just say: we all know floride is of a benefit, and kids in areas with florinated water have a significantly less number of cavities than kids growing up in areas that do not add floride to drinking water.

   boom.

   you can describe the truth, vaguely allude to the lie without going into specifics, and you've effectively still debunked it.

   so please don't repeat transphobic myths about testosterone when debunking them :) just debunk. dont repeat.

   if we must begin again, and i see nothing indicating otherwise, then let's bloody get on with it.
