There are a lot of different branches of leftist ideology and we're infamous for fighting with each other, but at the end of the day we all agree on some basic and foundational principles. A leftist is a person who is anti-capitalist, anti-racist, and anti-fascist. There are no acceptable compromises to be made on these positions, and anyone calling themselves "the left" who doesn't adhere to them is literally full of shit."
