Turns out that a massive amount of sensitive satellite communications data is broadcast unencrypted exposing it to a global audience.
It can be easily intercepted over a wide area using cheap, off-the-shelf consumer satellite equipment costing less than $800.
There’s a lie we tell talented people: that craft wins. That mastery speaks for itself. That building something great is enough. That a good product will find its audience.
It won’t.

I'm not in the "engagement economy" so I have no interest in the size of the addressable audience.
It's about the quality of the people I meet along the way.
@blogdiva Not to let my inner cynic run rampant, but I can't help but think that if a Lavender Book were issued today, it would get co-opted by corporate interests who wanted to do some reputation laundering, and to have another avenue of advertising to a CAPTIVE (emphasis added) audience.
It's a great idea, though. I'm just more paranoid than usual these days.
I used to think parasocial relationships were inherently unhealthy, but I don't think that so much any more.
They can be quite comforting, especially when you don't have as much opportunity to build two-way social interactions.
I do think it's important to recognise parasociality for what it is, & not have expectations or entitlement about what the public figure is supposed to do for their audience.
It's also not great when mutual relationships get deprioritised in favour of parasocial ones.
