I definitely agree that it gets used in the wrong places. Discord always surprises me by using it. My preferred usage of it doesn't extend being text files.
It is kind of sad that all the web 2.0 rich HTML editors have been thrown out for just markdown.
(I didn't know about the creator issues, that is unfortunate)
I doubt anyone will be upset that Far-right leader Marine Le Pen is mentioned 88 times in the latest bunch of Epstein files.
It's amazing how many people around the world either kept in contact with or went into partnership with him during his first incarceration for sex offences.
I'm not surprised, I don't think I'm even appalled, I just wish they'd put everything unredacted out there for everyone to see because some of these redacted people are probably complicit, Ghislaine Maxwell was.
So, low-key sex-trafficking of minors is being normalised by the way they are releasing the Epstein files.
It's losing it's shock value.
And that is not good.
"Many correctly saw this [announcement that Trump is taking over DC] as another escalation in Trump’s autocratic quest. Others also correctly saw this as another attempt to distract from the Epstein files.
It’s both of those things, but it’s also, politically speaking, a pretty weak maneuver."
~ Jay Kuo
I agree with Kuo: seems to me to be both-and.

@cstross @vkc I use a fairly specialized #TeXLaTeX setup which allows me to generate both PDFs (for the print version) and EPUB versions from the same source files.
It was rather fiddly to set up, but fairly useful since I send a monthly "Master Volume" with all my translations to my Patreon subscribers.
Move Files: a #tinytool
We released a tiny tool that moves files.
It is written in the #haskell programming language. The full source code is available as #FOSS (free and open-source software) on CodeBerg, here: https://codeberg.org/OmegaJunior/move-files
You will need to download the #GHC and cabal to compile it.
