@skinnylatte I love when people express this perspective.
I don't have a green thumb but I can cook. I think the time feels like a way of honoring the fact that you're transmuting life into a new life giving form.
It feels like people associate a love of food as hedonistic but I think it's a way to acknowledge all that goes into the ingredients. When it's "just fuel" it feels stark and survivalist.
Cooking can feel devotional.
If you deliberately misgender someone and think it is okay because you don't like them, or because they hurt you, or any other reason:
That. Is. Transphobia.
I don't know why this is hard for people.
That. Is. Transphobia.
If you see this and you are in the person's trusted orbit and you _don't_ call it out or call them in (even privately) that is also transphobia.
Having trans friends or trans people who agree with you does not obviate this in any way, shape, or form.
It is dehumanizing.
When someone creates a piece of art it should be appreciated in its original form.
It’s like taking the Mona Lisa and just cutting out a bit or repainting it, you’re destroying the original artist’s work.
Interesting... mastodon.online (often used for testing upcoming features) now has a new public web page, see the attached screenshot.
This is the view *without* being logged in, and shows the Explore tab by default, with options to see Local and Federated. Try it yourself at https://mastodon.online
There hasn't been a new Mastodon release since May, yet there are some important new features now active on mastodon.online but not yet released in the main version, including hashtag following, built-in translation etc. Post editing isn't available, but it's been part of the code for a whie now in a deactivated form.
It's unclear why there hasn't been a new release in such a long time as new features pile up waiting to go out. Are they planning to release lots of important features all at once in some kind of mega-release?
