I want to self-host (in a datacenter) an endpoint that iphone users can use as a "VPN Gateway". I don't want them to have to pay, and i don't want to pay anything above my current hosting costs.
So far openVPN and wireguard have *not* worked. Wireguard won't get internet, and the old "trick" of resetting the VPN connection a few times no longer works.
With openVPN the turnkey appliance didn't work correctly and i don't have the time or desire to set up all the infra ovpn requires.
Raccoon?
Usually they are owned by arrogant f....s who no matter what you say, they will return with a cliche that they couldn't care less about open source or freedom, they can afford to have the best and their advisors tell them that is the best, and so they buy it. Any of their time wasted in anything less than the best costs them more than what the machine costs.
So rationalizing anything with them is a waste of time, and their wasted money couldn't really hurt our feelings.
People on YouTube are playing games in English. I guess they are using the US eShop. I register an account in the US. I try to pay another subscription. It needs a US credit card.
Sigh.
I have a Swedish credit card. I don't actually have the plastic (because they want to send it to my official Swedish address and I don't have one) and I don't know my current expiry date, but it's still successfully paying for a Swedish SIM card and some other minor recurring costs.
So maybe I'll try again later to get a Swedish eShop account with the card I kind of have. Or maybe the Swedish eShop is less picky and accepts a HK credit card. We will see. The saga continues.
