@cejjacobs yes, the 13th amendment allows slavery for criminals, that is not new and the for-profit prison system is a horror in the US.

The scary part is NOT that this is out in the open (it's never been secret) — the scary part is they have abandoned the rule of law entirely.

ANYONE can be a "criminal"...this does away with the pretense of crime....

This was the obvious plan from the beginning (and I'm not the only one who's been saying it, but this is really fucking bad)

If your state warning systems are shit, find better ones.

There are lots of alt warning systems — people just have to go looking for them (as I found when I tried!)

Reminder:extreme fuckery is coming from the climate. Now is the time to get better at dealing with climate emergencies.
