@inthehands what percent of Americans read any "press", paper or online? Fox News and/or social media are the information conduit for a huge percentage.

RolandOfGilead (rolandofgilead@mastodon.acm.org)'s status on Thursday, 23-May-2024 04:20:13 JST RolandOfGilead @Gargron if you tell anyone to try Mastodon, and they go to the Android Play Store, the client they get does not keep a pointer to the last read post. When you click the ribbon to get the new posts, it puts you on the most recent, and then you have to scroll down to try and find the last post you read. Really awful behavior for 2 years now. I guess real Mastodon users don't use the default one, or this would have been fixed a long time ago.

RolandOfGilead (rolandofgilead@mastodon.acm.org)'s status on Thursday, 23-May-2024 04:13:54 JST RolandOfGilead @Gargron great, but I'd rather have the default android app work correctly. Am I the only one using it? If so, please replace it in the Google play store with one that does.

RolandOfGilead (rolandofgilead@mastodon.acm.org)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 11:45:07 JST RolandOfGilead @feditips well then there is another reason Mastodon will not catch on with the broader communities. If the primary app is not on Android Play Store and the Apple site, and if it's not really aggressively supported, then Mastodon is not targeting the larger web audience and Musk's BS will persist.

RolandOfGilead (rolandofgilead@mastodon.acm.org)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 11:37:04 JST RolandOfGilead @feditips sorry, I am not a fan of 3rd party apps. Too many people have been hacked by random 3rd party apps. I am sure the geeks love 3rd party apps, but I don't love Mastodon enough to risk ransomware.

RolandOfGilead (rolandofgilead@mastodon.acm.org)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 10:54:25 JST RolandOfGilead @feditips using the official app for Android. Whenever I check for new posts, the app jumps up to the latest post, and then I have no idea if it just loaded 2 or 20 posts that I haven't seen yet. Don't they understand the concept of a cursor, and they should load the new posts ABOVE where I am currently looking so I can just scroll up through the new ones? Instead, I have to scroll down and try and find my place where I was reading before they added the new ones. Even Musk's sw got that right
