Worse than any of this, I just confused Sisko with Janeway when commenting on a post about DS9.
What this demonstrates, yet again, is that capitalism does not function in the absence of regulation.
@kingrat Right?!!! Or tons of the Mission, actually.
For non-San Franciscians, West Portal is a neighborhood in the southwestern part of the city that feels a little like a small-town mainstreet in New Jersey in the '50s. It is almost always quite busy.
Journalists stop calling West Portal "sleepy" challenge.

@kingrat He's judging you.
Anyone else doing Postcards For Swing States think the first two provided messages are kind of...weird? I've been using the 3rd exclusively, which I still don't think is great but at least doesn't come across as creepy.
@kingrat Yes I don't think he's hurting the industry. I just saw the precis for his next novel and was like 'no other human being would have been allowed to publish this because it's nonsense.'
I like [Extremely Well-Known And Rich Sci-Fi Author] but perhaps they need to stop throwing money at him to publish every thought that comes into his head. #bookstodon
You can critique Democratic policy or choices around the DNC without assuming that your preferences are those of a normie Democrat.
@kingrat Holy shit. This city is tough.
@kingrat Can you explain the mechanism to me? Because I feel like if people stopped buying there would be a glut of money lying around and the dollar's value would drop lower? Or does the corresponding glut of production offset that?
I am not an economist, but in my understanding if consumers refusing to pay lowers the prices...the cause was not truly inflation in the first place? Please correct me if I'm totally off base.
Just a stunning amount of naivete when people, even well-intentioned people, talk about Oklahoma wanting to teach about "religion in schools" and whether that's OK. We already teach about religion in the social studies curriculum. What Oklahoma and other states want to do is enshrine an ahistorical, conservative, faith-based interpretation of Christianity in public school classrooms. That's not religious studies. That's indoctrination.
I knew when I named my cat that I would be using his government name at best 25% of the time. #catsofmastodon
@kingrat They know it simply doesn't matter with him the way it does with every other politician.
I guess it's a blessing (or a sign of my deep naivete, whatever) that after all this time I can still be shocked, but the fact that President Biden called the family of the guy who was killed during the Trump assassination attempt and *Donald Trump has not.*
Can anyone give me an example that isn't 'he promotes a policy that I think is morally questionable or incorrect ' that demonstrates that Biden is *mentally unfit* to be president? Again, *not* 'he does shit I disagree with.' This is in response to a post I saw that genuinely baffles me.
@kingrat Even though I know intellectually there are extremists everywhere, I would not have guessed West Coast.
