I'm kicking off my #Pride month DJing a friend's "tranniversary" party, where she celebrates the anniversary of her first dose of #HRT like a second birthday. #Trans joy indeed. #LGBTQ
As a DJ, I generally organize my tracks not just by BPM, key, and genre, but also on an idiosyncratic scale that roughly goes "organic -> soulful -> fun -> emotional -> mindless -> inhuman". It helps me pick a vibe and work in and out of different valences. Sometimes you want that peak to give people feels, sometimes it's "wheeee!", and sometimes its "I'm a consciousness beyond humanity".
DJs of the fedi, what idiosyncratic organization methods do you use?
@jnktn_tv Howdy friends! The Foxy Times are back again! Come see me as part of Jnktn.tv's Apr 8th stream! I'll be playing a lot of house and nu-disco bangers, probably with forays off into some techno and trance as well.
DJed on stream for 5 hours. I actually didn't know I could go that long. I didn't exactly have a plan. I had maybe 4-5 people stop by, including an old friend. There was a very "Fediverse" vibe to it, in that pretty much everyone who visited tried to have a genuine connection over the music, and that's what matters most.
Pronounced "mix kiss". I'm a DJ from Atlanta, GA, USA, focusing mostly on various flavors of #house and #techhouse, with a chaser of late 90s #downtempo and lounge for the afterparty.
