I just wanted to thank all of you. To those who attended protests today. Those who honked, waved, or otherwise supported the protestors. This who shared information and encouragement. Whether your experience today was positive and uplifting, or tense and uncertain. Whether you received support from others or are doubtful whether you made a difference. Whatever you did, you stood up and it was brave of you. I’m not anybody important, but I see you and I thank you. ❤️
(Note: I am not involved in or responsible for scheduling or organizing these events, I’m just sharing info from the website to Mastodon. If you have questions or want more info, see teslatakedown.com)
Reminder: “TeslaTakedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly.”
I tried my best to share information about as many global #TeslaTakeDown events scheduled for this weekend (3/29) as I could, but simply could not keep up and ran out of time.
If I didn’t post about your country or state, please check the map on the TeslaTakeDown website. So many events are scheduled, there is probably one near you. I’ll be sharing some more screenshots of locations, but you’ll need to check the map for specific details: https://actionnetwork.org/event_campaigns/teslatakedown
In response to growing threats from Musk, the government, and counter-protesters, people are encouraged to stay safe, be peaceful and respectful, and follow law enforcement directives.
TeslaTakeDown held a de-escalation training tonight on Zoom, which hit capacity. They will be releasing the slide deck and holding future trainings for those who couldn’t attend. More info here: https://bsky.app/profile/teslatakedown.com/post/3llib2wo5lk2d
@Fragglemuppet Same! Even if they’re not salvageable, I’m going to hang onto them no matter what! I think there are companies that will digitize photos and video recordings…maybe will look into that some day.
I had quite a few “lightbulb” moments this week when I finally understand something I should have understood years ago. Like, DECADES ago. But better late than never, right?
Here are my top two “I was today years old” moments from this week:
- a mastodon friend recently posted something about a “VCR camera” and I thought back to when my dad had the big clunky kind with a shoulder strap, and how they got small enough to hold in one hand. Thought about how back then they were called “camcorders…I wonder where that name came from. It’s like they were cameras…that recorded. Camera recorders…camcorders…omg!” I was so excited that I shouted to my partner who was making dinner to share my discoveries with him. He was unimpressed lol
Partner asked me to stop by the store #today to pick up some fresh limes. So I came home with the limes, a raspberry coffee cake, a container of mini black-and-white cookies, and a giant bag of Doritos, in case anyone is wondering how my day is going.
Just finished rewatching #KillBill Vol.2 and again I ask, how did #UmaThurman not win all the awards?? I literally cry at the end EVERY TIME.
Also, why are there no prequels or sequels to these movies? Would I like to see the adventures of the Viper Squad? You know I would. Would I like to see the origins of young Bill? I’m already preordering tix. Spare me the tired Marvel universe and unnecessary movie remakes. Let’s dive into the Kill Bill franchise. Who’s with me?!
