Survivor was the first show that I ever heard called a reality show, yet there were other camera shows before it. Was Survivor really the first show to ever be called that?
Alright! My leg is feeling completely better, Lilo left to get food and roam around the house to wait for breakfast since cats have no concept of weekends, I got up and put on some cool PJs, I figured out how to get into Apple Music again and am listening to music, Sesame Street at the moment, and I'm feeling much better in general!
This post has been brought to you by the letter G. G is for both "grumpy" and "Go do something about it."
I'm hot and miserable, my leg still hurts a little and keeping it warm helps, so I turn off the fan, but then I'm too hot. There's a big old cat in my bed, I haven't even changed into PJs because I can't be bothered... The sheet is coming loose, but I certainly can't fix it now. The feeling is just off for some reason tonight. I just needed to whine a bit.
What's with me comparing every book and show to Star Trek? Not like grading it, like in a "is it better or worse way," but comparing individual characters and events from seemingly unrelated media to Trek. "That reminds me of the scene in TNG where..." Does anyone else do this? It also happens with the Big Bang Theory sometimes, but a lot more with Trek.
The latest spam, possibly scam, going around is for mutual aid of all things. I'm sorry, I'm usually as gung ho about "accept every mutual aid request at face value! Don't question anyone!" as the next person, but when it's random accounts you've never interacted with DMing you every day with health problems asking for money, it's a scam. Sometimes "believe everyone," and "help everyone," has its limits. Not often, but it is a thing that happens sometimes. Please pay attention.
It's amazing how just opening the blind does so much for my energy. It's something I don't usually think about. Mom likes to keep the house dark and gloomy most of the time instead of taking advantage of the late nights and sunny mornings of summer.
@Nightshade I downloaded it to listen to offline, but it made that little ding sound, lol. I didn't think I could steal it, but it was worth a try, lol.
@andycarolan No, it works with iTunes. It's nice because you can make stations from songs you already have. The only bad thing, it used to be free. But I'll at least enjoy this month.
So I just signed up for the free trial of Apple music, and I have enough money left on my card to pay for a month, so maybe they'll let me listen for 2 months effectively free? One can hope. But anyway, the answer I was looking for is no. Sadly it seemms you cannot keep the music you download locally. I downloaded a song and looked for it in my iTunes media folder, thinking to email it to myself, *gasp* I know, naughty naughty! but I couldn't find it. Nice try, Kate!
I always say that life is an endless cycle of losing yourself and finding yourself again. By this I mean, every now and then you find yourself being reminded of the best parts of yourself that you'd forgotten about, and renewing commitments to yourself. It's more than that, but there might not be words to fully describe it. Besides, it's delicate and joyful and personal. Better to just appreciate it.
@GreenSkyOverMe Then for some reason I really can't figure out, the whole story of Elena just made me think it would work perfectly in a Star Trek-styled mirrorverse treatment. I used to have the basics of 1 pretty much worked out.
@GreenSkyOverMe They're all people you'd probably only hear about in the news, read about in the papers or equivalent. In the case of the Disney shows they were friendly and very much in touch with the people, so maybe you knew someone who was helped by them once or you caught a quick glimpse of them in passing, but that would be about it. Otherwise they were just names you heard. Then there's Naomi, Elena's blunt, outspoken and sarcastic right hand, who always reminded me of Jadzia. 2
@GreenSkyOverMe Lol, when you replied I could've sworn you answered this and we had the same conversation before, but I can't see it so I guess not.
I guess it's because I was watching DS9 for the first time, Elena and the Lion Guard all around the same time, so I saw some similarities in all of them, but mostly Elena. In all cases, they're shows about the eletes in their respective societies. You don't usually think of Trek characters as eletes, but they kind of are. 1
