the New York Times is so very responsible for the state of trans rights in the US right now due to their concerted effort to promote and normalize anti-trans bigotry and propaganda

also it’s about more than just reading a lot

you need an intimate understanding of structure, theme, and character, and how best to serve those and help the writer accomplish what they set out to do

you also need to be able to figure out why something isn’t working the way it should

the writers you work with are part of your team, you’re all in it together

seek out underrepresented voices because nothing will ever change if you don’t

advocate for them and their ideas to the publisher

good editors are a true blessing and a writer’s best friend 🩷

there are always people in this world who will think we should be someone that we’re not

but why do angry wrong people get to be the boss of you? here’s the secret nobody tells you:

they don’t get to be!

and there are people who’re gonna LOVE who you really are

and those are the ones that matter

there is little in this world better than a really good vanilla

not that cheap crappy stuff, but the fancy kind with flecks of real vanilla in it? that shit’s the best
