While some folks are trying to move towards "Lets put everything into WASM and WebGPU" I wish more folks would move towards "Lets put everything into standard data formats and let users bring their UI to the data more easily".

Hey fedifolks! I was hoping to get some bikeshedding feedback on a new #FEP we're working on at #DistributedPress.

tl;dr we want #ActivityPub objects to link to #P2P URLs for alternate ways to load them. Right now I'm debating between putting them in `alsoKnownAs` or into the `url` field. e.g. `"alsoKnownAs": ["ipns://staticpub.mauve.moe"]` for @mauve@staticpub.mauve.moe

I worry that field is already in use and that it could cause trouble. Would a new field name be better? Maybe `alternateURL`?

Are there any #lisp flavors that aim to transpile to other programming languages? Seems like it'd be handy to have a way to make libraries than can be reused in other langs. Lisp just seems like a simple enough set of syntax for transpiling.

Dang, looks like #Mastodon doesn't handle relative URIs when parsing #ActivityPub / #ActivityStreams data.

For example I can't set the `id` of a post to be a relative URL since it loads it as raw JSON.

This makes it harder to publish static data to #p2p

I think my philosophy when making software is that it should work for people with zero money or no bank account / credit card.

I know it's not a popular mindset to be in since money and profit is everything in the tech world.

I think it comes from growing up as a kid with no disposable income or access to anything but my shitty computer.

I'd rather support people with almost nothing than people with latest and greatest tech gizmos and spare cash for subscription services. 😅

I'm kind of surprised that this forum for figuring out ActivityPub specifications requires account creation instead of supporting ActivityPub.

@shauna What OS? Notepad++ on Windows worked great. On Linux I have gotten decent mileage from `nano` (along with making the keybindings closer to what graphical editors use).

I am not aware of web based ones that don't start stuttering as the file size gets huge.

@shauna Oh! Also if you settle on an alternative I would love to hear it. Defs relevant to my needs as well.

Just loaded my first #p2p site published to the new version of https://distributed.press with proper #ipfs #hypercore and #dnslink support!

The DNSLink stuff is a bit iffy for hypercore, but I'll be fixing that up tomorrow.

Now stuff can be published via Distributed Press, and viewed via @agregore

What's cool is that in addition to keeping your content online, you can easily configure it to set up DNS keys for you by delegating with an NS DNS entry for the `_dnslink` subdomain on your domain.

Looks like #ActivityStreams over #IPLD is very likely to be a thing some time this year!

Currently drafting up the grant milestones and figuring out budget.

Likely #rust or #golang to start along with some general #RDF goodies.

My hypothesis is that baking database indexes within the data itself will make it efficient to load people's posts over #p2p without needing to rely as much on indexing servers.
