Yes, @KaleidoscopeApp is not a cheap app. But, as I tell my students, when you get your first paycheck (that you can spend on yourself), invest in your trade: buy yourself a good chair, a good keyboard, and a good diff tool.
I was teaching at CABPES tonight. Overheard one of the (12 year old) kids from the class next door tell his classmates: “I’m gonna teach my kid to beat up your kid.”
The brutality and savagery of the israel is breathtaking. The detained this guy. Zip-tied him. Possibly tortured him. Then ran him over with a tank. Feet first. So he could feel. What’s left is not recognizable as once being a human body. Except for the zip tied arm. We can’t ID him to tell his relatives to vote for Biden.
Of course I won’t post the picture here. But it’s on israeli media where people are howling with glee.
That tank was paid for by our tax dollars. Taxes are due in 43 days.
Quote: israel claimed Palestinians trampled each other in the Flour Massacre. Doctors say the majority of wounds are gunshots. The press needs to stop taking israel at its word. Do not be a stenographer for genocide.
“Israeli settlers mock a Palestinian by giving him milk from his own fridge in his taken house, showing the cruel reality and struggle Palestinians face.”
“Today at the Nitzana border crossing Israeli citizens are bringing their machine guns and small children to block all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. The military is having fun. The kids are cooking cotton candy.
I’m not gonna post the video of the dying man who was shot by israeli forces while waiting for humanitarian aid at Sea Street in Gaza earlier today.
Reminded of those videos of US soldiers in helicopters under Obama’s command killing pedestrians in Iraq and then waiting around for EMTs so they could kill them too. “Double tap” they called it.
This was our guy. The Democrat. The Chicagoan. The butcher.
Aaron Bushnell has succumbed to his injuries. The US airman poured accelerant on himself and set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy at DC today, saying he will “no longer be complicit in genocide.”
I watched the (blurred) video. Nothing says “America” more than seeing one of DCs “finest” pointing a loaded gun at him as he burned to death while others try to put out the fire, yelling “I don’t need a gun! I need more fire extinguishers!”
I haven’t been following the Fanni Willis case, but something her father said in court hit hard.
He was asked if at a certain time his daughter had a large amount of cash. He said (paraphrased) oh yes. Sorry, your honor, I don’t mean to be racist, but it’s a Black thing. I had a degree from Harvard and an AmEx and Visa. And merchants refused to take my cards because of the color of my skin. I always told her to keep 6 months of cash on hand always. 😞
I’m gonna be teaching another couple of Python classes starting this week. This year I’m thinking of ditching Discord for discussions and using GitHub discussions instead.
I’m guessing only contributors to a repo can contribute to the discussion (which would be ideal). Gonna test that out today.
Has anyone here used GitHub Discussions as a Discord substitute?
Sadly the same is also true (to a lesser extent) for iOS development. As an engineer whose focus is creating solutions, and not applications I have to weigh the cost of iOS versus the web. The web usually wins. Things aren’t as brittle. e.g: I have existing WatchKit applications where Xcode renders it impossible for me to add a label where I want.
I read somewhere that Engineering is the intersection of Science and Economics.
I had very few encounters with “glassholes.” A memorable one was at AltConf during the ‘13 or ‘14 WWDC. This guy (is it always a guy?) was in our little discussion group after a talk. Was he recording? Who knew? It was uncomfortable. Someone asked if they could have a look. He said no. It got more awkward after that.
Another time was my recent trip to Istanbul. A guy was wearing Ray Bans that could record video. The implication was that he could ogle women on Istiklal Street without them knowing and have videos for himself.
Does the Vision Pro record video? As someone who does security for youth events where young girls may not want to be photographed, is that something I need to look for?
