Funniest bit of the Haley fail is the idea that the questioner was a “Democratic plant,” now circulating among right wing pundits.

Yeah, he came prepared with a real gotcha question, something no Republican could be expected to answer honestly.

“What caused the Civil War?” It’s a head-scratcher.

I wish more articles about Substack would note that it’s not just about the Nazis; Substack has also sought out and monetized some of the worst people in the right wing’s anti-LGBTQ hate movement, and helped them spread their poison much more effectively.

Allow me to paraphrase.

“Oh, you don’t like Nazis? Too fucking bad. Not only are they welcome at Substack, we’re gonna keep paying them too.”

A big reason I remain HIGHLY skeptical about Threads: they let that vicious bigot LibsOfTikTok have an account, after initially (correctly) blocking her. That horrible creature should be radioactive, but she’s cultivated an audience of knuckle-dragging goons and Zuck wants him some of that.

I honestly believe comedians like Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Seth Meyers, Jordan Klepper, Desi Lydic, John Leguizamo et al are doing a vastly better job of informing the public about important issues than our hopelessly compromised fourth estate.

It’s unreal how fast YouTube went from a few unobtrusive ads to a FUCKING NIGHTMARE HELLSCAPE OF INSANELY LONG ULTRA-INTRUSIVE ADS FOR SHITTY PRODUCTS.

Twitter used to be a place where you could go when important news was breaking and find valid information.

Now it’s a shit pile of disinformation fed by terrible people and botnets, wildly out of control.

The Republican Party tried to kill our aid to Ukraine when they need it most, as Russia prepares for a massive winter assault.

That’s what we should be focusing on, not a false fire alarm in the House. A large faction of the GOP is a literal fifth column in the US government.

Tim Cook is aware of the problems with right wing hate speech at XTwitter. On CBS Sunday Morning he was asked why Apple continues to advertise with Musk, and he said the antisemitism is “abhorrent” and “it’s something we constantly ask ourselves.”

Maybe it’s time to stop asking and start doing.

It’s really grotesque to see almost all major news outlets continue to use Twitter as if nothing’s wrong, while the CEO is giving a platform to the worst people in the world, attacking those very same media outlets daily, banning reporters, and spreading misinformation. It’s not users doing this, it’s the fucking OWNER.

We’re finding out — once again — how little the concept of ethics means to the mainstream media.

We all need to understand that Elon Musk is setting up XTwitter as a powerful force for right wing disinformation in the 2024 election.

We used to only hear this “slavery benefitted black people” racist horseshit from the farthest of the far right.

Now it’s mainstream Republican politics.

It’s probably a good idea to repost this incredibly prophetic cartoon from 2014 at regular intervals because every day I see people who still haven’t fully imbibed its message. Apologies if it’s old hat to you.
