A large earthquake of magnitude 7.6 hit off the west coast of Japan in the past hour (near Noto City, Ishikawa Prefecture).

A tsunami warning was issued for all areas on the west coast of Hokkaido and Honshu and north coast of Kyushu, with estimated wave heights of up to 5 metres (Noto Peninsula).

Thank goodness that the Daily Express weren't one of those media outlets who screamed for 'herd immunity', shouted for places to be opened again after a couple of weeks, and demanded people get over Covid's existence and 'return to normal', or be called a hypochondriac wimp.

And as someone who had weird heart-related side effects after a #Covid infection, this not only is unsurprising to me, but also hits home.

It's very revealing how the "we're anti-trans because we want to protect the gays" media and commentariat have hardly covered what's happening in Russia.

Hell, they could just come out and say it's been done because of the 'evil transes', 'radical gender ideology', and 'radical trans activists'.

But instead, it's been near silence.

@breadandcircuses Anyone who thinks that this model of 'society' will ever do anything antithetical to the system that underpins it, is fooling themselves.

The world could be literally burning and the authorities will still be there beating you down.

The 'debate' today which so blatantly signals to all that 'politicians' of all stripes will yet again capitulate to the Right and their vast, well-resourced discourse ecosystem, and rip up the Equality Act for #trans people in the coming months - in the endeavour to later do so for all LGBTQ+ people - should be another reminder to anyone from any minority group you'll never have long-term #liberation through '#politics' and these hierarchical systems. If it can happen in the USA, and now today in Brazil, attempted coups can happen anywhere.

The far-right are extremely powerful, wealthy and committed to remaking the world in their rigid hierarchical and social structures.

One day those institutions you've been told are powerful to stop a coup may just not be any longer, if from the numbers or weakened from within.

And as capitalism continues to collapse in, the wealthy might even make sure it's successful to protect their status.
