I don't think this image correctly describes what's going on.

The plastic (I assume plastic) connectors would be trying to UN-fold, stretching the string out. Not fold flat & collapse.

Someone in my father's old neighborhood purchased an old B&W police car at a police auction and parked it in a parking lot near the stop sign on his corner to stop people from constantly running it. 👍
