This week, news reports have alleged that the U.S. military carried out a strike to kill two survivors of an initial missile strike on a boat in the Caribbean.

- Another study found “prolonged T cell dyshomeostasis” (damage to your immune system) due to “persistent activation and dyshomeostasis of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells for 6–12 months after acute infection.”

This morning I reviewed dozens of #COVID19 studies published in the last five days. Here's what you should know:

- A multimodal MRI study found “altered signal intensity, abnormal tissue microstructure, and imbalanced neurochemicals” in the brains of people with BOTH long COVID AND COVID-19 recovered healthy controls, demonstrating “long-term neurological effects of COVID-19.” 1/6

- A study of retinal microvasculature of recovered COVID-19 patients found significant changes compared to controls that “may lead to future complications or visual impairment.”

- A study of those with Long COVID found “significant alveolar gas exchange impairment, with frequent diffusion deficits, fibrotic changes, and ground-glass opacities indicating persistent parenchymal and microvascular injury.”

- Finally, a study found an “increase in IFN-γ (a cytokine that plays a crucial role in the immune system, activating immune cells to fight infections) in patients who had multiple episodes of COVID-19 (which) may indicate persistent and possibly exacerbated immune activation after reinfections.”

Get your flu (and COVID) vaccination!

You may have seen headlines that this year's flu virus isn't a great match for the 2025 vaccine. This has led some to think they do not need to get vaccinated. This is wrong. Do people not really realize what a bad idea a 50-year mortgage is?

At 5.98% interest on a $320,000 loan, the reduction in monthly payment is only $235 ($2,289.45 vs $2,054.77).

Meanwhile, over the lifetime of the loan, the additional interest payments are almost $320,000 greater ($369,201.62 vs $687,860.46)!

A 50-year mortgage is a way to ensure that fewer people build equity and pay a LOT more interest.

Tom Hanks was photographed wearing a mask on the NY subway this week. He was on the Late Show and was asked about it. He said he wasn't trying to go incognito. In fact, he's doing a play and cannot get sick, and he added, “I’ve had #COVID19 enough. I don’t want to do that again.”

At some point, before more of us have chronic impairments from repeated reinfections, I hope more of you will have had COVID enough and may wear a mask when you can, particularly during surges of infections.
