Y’all been falling down on the job and not boosting enough @loren into my feed so I had to go to extremes and follow him. C’mon people!

We have a friend that’s an #immigration attorney in #LA and she’s losing her shit. Her work with clients is being used to kidnap them. They’re grabbed if they appear for a hearing, regardless of the judge’s ruling. And even if with her help they were adjudicated to live and work in the US decades ago, the record of that fact is used by ICE to kidnap them. So her phone is ringing off the hook *and* all the tear-gassing and gunplay and kidnapping is occurring at her place of work.

Have some big-time gardening friends who were upset about how their garden was suddenly being decimated by insects since they adopted two cats and let them prowl the garden. I asked them if they’d seen any birds in the garden since the cats started patrolling. They got the point.

A friend who knows I work in solar just hit me up for a take on whether wind and solar contributed to the huge power outage in Spain. Spain gets most of its power from renewables now, so not surprisingly, there's a huge amount of disinformation flying around right now to claim solar and wind are to blame.

Ha. The news editor for the local Scripps TV station decided that the biggest protest event to occur in #ColoradoSprings since (probably) the Vietnam war wasn’t worthy of a mention on the 5 o’clock news.

They’d sent a camera crew and reporter, but didn’t air a single word or photo of the roaring crowd that choked downtown for two hours.

Instead, long fluffy pieces on a local soccer goalie, a training exercise for firemen, and lots of photos of snow that viewers had sent in.

Yay! First wildflower of Spring here on the Palmer Divide in Colorado. These first ones to bloom—the Pasque flowers—are also some of the grandest we see all year.

MS Windows is so unusable now that my wife agrees it's time to come over to #linux. The problem we need to figure out is the bookkeeping software for our [currently very] small business. She is used to but not totally stuck on #Quickbooks, which doesn't run nicely on Linux. Also we'd rather not support Intuit and are resistant to a hosted cloud service.

Can anyone share experience with #GnuCash or similar for self-hosted small business accounting on Linux (Ubuntu/Pop_OS)? Boosts appreciated.

@seachanger I love the way the ICE guy throws out “working under a fake Social Security number” as something that makes her deportable. It means she pays into our Social Security system through the payroll tax but will never be able to collect benefits.

This of course is how it is with most undocumented immigrants: they carry a heavier weight in our society so the burden for the rest of us will be lighter.

One special feature of Fastmail that I like is the ability to create alias email addresses for your account. You can have as many as you want for free and the mail all gets routed to your main account inbox by default, but it can be helpful for making rules to filter your emails. I only give out my "real" email address to people I really know and trust.

One of the endearing habits of our donkeys is the way they put their toys away. I can only guess what their reasoning might be, but frequently when I come out to feed I’ll find that a toy they had been playing with has been carefully placed inside a bowl or tub instead of just left lying on the ground. Sometimes after dark they will gather their toys up into their barn stall where they sleep.

Mexico’s Supreme Court building is quite shocking if you’re used to the Olympian white marble temples of government buildings in the US. It’s full of amazing murals that graphically remind those working in the court that the state itself is the source of the worst injustices: armed surveillance, police brutality, massacres, corruption, incarceration, torture.
