@jk the main advantage macs have right now is that they almost universally have high-resolution "retina" displays; having more pixels makes fonts look better regardless of the rendering tech used.

Honestly, the font renderer used on linux (freetype2) *is* really good; it's just that very few applications use it correctly. Basically nothing does gamma-correct rendering. GTK only recently started doing sub-pixel glyph positioning. At least most folks do use slight or no hinting now.

@Alamantus One nice thing about the time everyone's been given to prepare is that once they find a new home they can (if it's mastodon) use the account move feature, which *should* automatically update your follows to their new home. (And if you move your account, it should hopefully keep everyone you're following without requiring re-approval.)

But it wouldn't hurt to go through and check if people have posted where they're moving to, just in case.

@Alamantus I'm not sure how well any of this will work if you're using a different implementation tho, iirc you were looking at frendi.ca?
