What a fun experiment! I put my wife on Linux and she ran it for a few *years* before we had to move her to something else because of VPN requirements, but it's doable! I agree with most posters that the best recommendations are Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or PopOS. https://cultofshiv.wtf/@SleepyCatten/112689024226073444
@aral Any plan to make an installer for Kitten that doesn't pipe a web script to bash? I know we can see the source on Codeberg, but I always advise people to never, ever, ever pipe a script to bash.
@me Hey there - I always advise people to follow more people, like a THOUSAND! That’s the benefit of the non-algorithmic timeline, but also the downfall. You need to actively keep that timeline full with lots and lots of follows!
Yesterday was Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference, #WWDC, if you hadn't noticed. This year, I played along entirely on Mastodon, without even opening the other site. I can't tell you how happy I am to report that not only did I not miss it, I actually know people who told me Tw was mostly slow and boring, no real splash, and that they came to Mastodon for the good stuff. Also, not a single performance blip across the internets. +1 to the Fediverse and @Gargron!
