Maholmire (maholmire@stereophonic.space)'s status on Saturday, 25-Feb-2023 03:00:43 JST Maholmire Today's youths often have the propensity to exchange salacious photos. Something that may draw attention to another crucial aspect of digital privacy which is often overlooked, Exchangeable Image File or EXIF Data.
It is a digital footprint of sorts containing useful information about when a photo was first taken. Which device it was on, the dimensions used and concerningly the geolocation of where it was first taken.
When an image is passed along online, most reputable services usually scrub the metadata to protect their users. Though you can't always assume this to be the case. As such, you may want to pass an image you intend to share through an EXIF scrubber to erase the metadata as a precautionary measure.
Though such measures may seem excessive at first glance, it is common practice for hackers, private investigators and law enforcement to sniff through EXIF data to ascertain your location. With that in mind, it is all the more important that you be wary of the photos you have and where you choose to share them.
Stay safe out there #Fediverse.

That’s how they got Julian Assange.

Maholmire (maholmire@stereophonic.space)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Feb-2023 04:03:21 JST Maholmire As Edward Snowden found out first-hand, there aren't many decent countries out there which don't already fall under the fourteen eyes or collaborate with them.
I would've simply chosen not to host Lolicon out of principle and leave at that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

Maholmire (maholmire@stereophonic.space)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Feb-2023 02:32:09 JST Maholmire I don't really think anyone really believes that it is okay for an adult to sleep with an illustration of a pre-pubescent child on a body pillow. Sleeping whether that be alone or with someone is usually a deeply intimate and personal affair. When we are asleep, we're at our most vulnerable which is why most people choose to only sleep with someone they trust and feel comfortable with. The same applies to household pets which still have a deeper connection to their feral past than we do.
Taking that into consideration, the notion of sleeping with a body pillow with an illustration of a prepubescent child is not only pretty weird but downright creepy as I'm sure you'll agree. Anyone who has set a moment aside to parse this very same thing, @newt included will probably draw the same conclusion.
Pretty common sense stuff, don't be surprised when people give weird looks after finding a body pillow in the room. Though women typically have a little more leeway with that sort of thing. -
