The Winamp source code is here!
(and it has a horrendous license that people are rightfully complaining about already)
So far:
* License was probably not lawyered, so it contradicts itself a lot, even though they probably meant "redistributions need to drop all branding and attachment to Winamp" which is fair
* The license violates GitHub terms of service, because the ToS grant the right to fork for every public repository
* The source includes commercial or non-distributable libraries
* SHOUTcast server side code is included in the repo (lol???)
Funniest bit:
"Forking is not allowed" vs. "Contributions encouraged"
On GitHub, that requires a fork however 🤔
or do they want us to use git send-email?
Same can be said about CWing and alt-texting stuff, as previously said.
I mostly CW stuff by now, but the fact that I was reported for missing a "food" CW on a post that popped off at some point because it contained a bowl of fried rice between a keyboard is still stuck in my mind.
It's probably hard to find a good line of policing stuff "well" but some people on here just go way too overboard.
Seeing that Godot thing with the editor (which is open source) announcing to be available on the Horizon Store so it can be directly used on headsets and people decrying it with "Meta? The Facebook Meta?? The devils!!!"
I don't know where these brainworms started, but it's not the right thing to immediately go off at something as soon as it touches something bad or whatever, like it loses its soul the moment it does that.

I found my corner on fedi and I'm happy with the people I interact here, but the way the people on here act is so unwelcoming.
I already posted about it weeks ago, but it still holds true, and always will:
You all are trying to be "the good" so much that you are just as bad.
"hoster prohibits nsfw so we add age verification" to change what about that exactly?
if the adult users post adult content you are still getting booted?
age verification is a spicy topic, but, once again:
keep your instances small, only allow registrations by request, and if you doubt someone's age, don't let them in, or ban them later.
on fedi it wouldn't even change much, they'd register elsewhere or self-host to get access to content.
Goodbye Düsseldorf! 👋
The #TYPO3 Community Sprint is over, but not going home yet!
Next stop is @t3cm (or at least the warmup event later tonight)
Seeing people that split their personal and professional posting stuff on here is interesting.
I tried that too, before starting my apprenticeship, but I quickly stopped giving a damn.
Same with my OSS contributor roles and such: If you don't want me, I can move my contributions elsewhere, but your loss, not mine.
@puniko @kura I don't see how a plain link would cause a bug though :neocat_woozy:
I thought it might have to do with some of the Turbo rendering things, but I can't replicate your issues on Chromium or Firefox :blobcatnotlikethis:
@puniko @kura and when you access https://ask.absturztau.be/settings/sharing it redirects you to login?
the sign-in redirect should only happen when you are not signed in (obviously)
so, that's weird that it would only happen on a single route, it should throw you out on any settings page (since the guarding method is the same for each of those)
@kura @puniko I did it on a fresh account there as well and it worked fine for me.
@puniko @kura At least Retrospring-specific I don't see anything that could be wrong with the sharing route
I also don't get logged out visiting the page
but if you figure something out I'm interested
damn, Duolingo bird is caked up for real :neocat_woozy:
(This is a notification that Duolingo will stop bothering me with lesson reminders)
For the next April Fools, https://spec.matrix.org/latest/ should just show "Unable to decrypt message"
@puniko when file uploads and modtracker in Fragsturztaube? :nkoHehe:
@puniko maoam!
By the way, in case people are interested in hardware specs for Retrospring:
Even though it is a Rails app like Mastodon, it barely is dependent on background job stuff, so with regular site usage it'll manage upwards of 80k registered users on a 4GB RAM VPS.
https://retrospring.net was running on a tiny AWS Lightsail VPS, with Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq and RS itself on one host up until 40k users. We only switched to our beefed-up cloudscale setup because of the CPU throttling from Lightsail.
