    @petez

Was there plans to occupy UA or join to Russia?

This is what they literally listed on SPIEF 2026 among “desirable scenarios” for Russia.

If not, for how long the puppet regime survie in UA? For a next election?

If Russia succeeded and installed a puppet regime in Ukraine in 2022, there would be no free elections anymore. When have you seen free elections in Russia or Belarus last time?

I do not see any future for the Putin, and the war delays the fall.

I don’t understand. Are you saying if Ukraine surrenders, Putin will fall? That doesn’t sound reasonable.

something like this happened in any other country

Ever wondered why this did not happen in Poland or Ukraine but did happen in Russia? Maybe it had something to with with what people in Ukraine did in 2004 and 2013 and something people in Russia largely ignored in 2012? Or 2006 when Putin killed Politkovskaya? Or when he took over NTV etc etc? Remember, I was in Russia all that time, and the only think I’ve heard was “we don’t want to stick our head out”, “we’re not into politics” or even “this country needs a heavy hand”.

people avoid government and don’t trust it

Somehow they do trust it as it comes to paying out the SVO contracts 🤷

There’s a funny moment in almost every conversation with a Russian on Twitter when you ask him why on earth he’s using a VPN to access X and is he afraid of something?

The response from the world’s cultural capital and the Third Rome is wonderful from a clinical point of view, so I will quote it in whole (you have been CWarned):

You faggot, they’ve fucked your whole brain up the arse. That’s a fact. I don’t need a VPN out of fear; I don’t have to fear anything in my own country. I need a VPN to get round the bans [imposed] by the morons working at the regulator. It’s you who’ve scurried off to your burrow like a rat; you’re scared, you little faggot. You’re pathetic, a worn-out condom.”

I wanted to ask him who actually appointed the “morons working at the regulator”. Maybe the infamous Anglo-Saxons did it?

Well, no, it was Prime Minister Mishustin in 2020, but he’ll never find out because he’s already blocked me after his rant.

He didn’t delete the post, though, which is actually quite forward-thinking because what he wrote falls under Article 319 of the Russian Criminal Code, namely “insulting state authorities”.

I have first noticed this absence of logical thinking already in 2014 when I saw Russians protesting with banners “Obama leave our pensions alone” and blaming the West for food price increases as result of… Putin introducing sanctions on EU food imports 😉

#Russia Pavel Gubarev doesn’t seem to believe Putin’s statement that “our army is attacking on the whole line of SVO”.

Gubarev says that actually “there’s no offensive for a long time and on some directions we are losing ground”.

I wonder who has more accurate information? 🤔(a rhetorical question)

Russians have this phrase “they see better on the top” (сверху виднее), which serves as an excuse to delegate any responsibility upstream and keep your brain in a pleasant state of shutdown. Much like Orwell’s Boxer the horse with his “I will work more” in response to any trouble.

What happens now with #Putin is an exciting opportunity to watch a clinical case of buildup of multi-layered, systemic cognitive biases and feedback loops in real time. There will be no better time to study it, because it won’t last long.

Tetiana Mykolaivna Chornovol (Ukrainian: Тетяна Миколаївна Чорновол; born 4 June 1979) is a Ukrainian journalist and civic activist, and among the leaders of the Euromaidan protest campaign. She is known for investigative reports about corruption in Ukraine, as well as for her direct actions. In 2014, she was elected to the Verkhovna Rada, and returned to the Ukrainian parliament in September 2025 replacing a vacancy. Chornovol took part in the War in Donbas and rejoined the Ukrainian army following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. On 25 December 2013, Chornovol was the victim of a much published and condemned severe beating by a group of men who dragged her from her car outside of Kyiv. She was hospitalized with a broken nose and a concussion. From 2014 until 2019 she was a member of the parliamentary faction of the party "People's Front", and also of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on national security and defense. Although not being high enough initially on the election list of European Solidarity in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election, following the assassination of European Solidarity...

Interesting #GPS research - comes out the GPS constellation (they mean that GPS, run by US, not any GNSS system) was also used as a modern alternative to the old-school radio “number stations” broadcasting pseudo-random letters and digits. The authors speculate that the binary data portions distributed in reserved GPS broadcast field were cryptographic keys, due to their high entropy.

One way is sufficient for key distribution for one-time pad encryption.

If DoD wants to encrypt messages to a secret agent somewhere using one-time pad, both sides need exactly the same block of random data.

DoD obviously has it, because they generated it.

But the agent needs an identical copy too - so DoD broadcasts it, the agent uses a specialised received to read it from the air and they’re ready to decrypt/encrypt messages.

This is how it also worked with radio number stations, except the numbers had to be written down from radio manually.

#Russia publicist Dmitry Steshin (“Russkiy tarantas”, 170k subscribers) just published the following regarding #Transnistria and #Moldova

It’s easier to leave Transnistria before the Romanians carry out a humiliating, forceful and demonstrative takeover of the Russian republic. In the form of an occupation followed by annexation. Because, objectively speaking, there’s nothing we can do about it. And there’s a view that Transnistria’s resistance will be much the same as Karabakh’s. Most people will flee. Everyone has three or four passports to hand. No one in their right mind would want to repeat the earthly trials of Donbass, with years of marinating – ‘take it to heart, send it to hell’. Then again, ‘no one promised Transnistria anything’ apart from passports.

In the last paragraphs he refers to a narrative popular among #Novorossiya “patriots” who briefly believed that “Putin will come and liberate them” back in 2014, before thugs like Zakharchenko came and “liberated” them of their property.

#Russia channel ‘Veteran’s Notes’ (written as ZАПИСКИ VЕТЕРАНА, ~300k subscribers) advises military drivers on how to avoid being hit by enemy drones by, well disguising their vehicles as civilian ones:

Another important aspect in minimising losses caused by enemy drones is camouflage. And although this is quite difficult in the case of military transport vehicles, as the enemy has already incorporated specific silhouettes of military transport and combat equipment into the AI-based drone guidance algorithms, all identification and tactical markings must be removed from other vehicles used by the military for its own purposes, as these markings have also been incorporated into AI-based target recognition algorithms.

However, this is followed by some rather sensible advice for ’patriotic” Russian civilians:

And if you are driving a civilian car in general traffic, but tactical markings (such as a Z) are displayed on the sides of the vehicle and on the bonnet, as is currently customary, your car will be attacked by an enemy drone.

🔹🔹 @notes_veterans 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹

There’s a famous Polish satirical drawing that quite precisely depicts the current #Poland #Ukraine argument about history 😉

It refers to famous 1410 battle of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (white eagle flags) with the Teutonic Order (white with black cross). The Teutons look puzzled saying “I think they started without us”.

In contemporary context, Teutons would be replaced by Russians and half of Commonwealth flags would be Ukrainian.

Author of the drawing is Maciej Tomaszek.

Leaked Documents Reveal #Russia ‘Cognitive Strikes’ Against the West — Including Islamophobic ‘Pig Head’ Attacks in Paris

In September 2025, nine mosques and cultural centers in and around #Paris were targeted with a grotesque Islamophobic stunt: Bloody severed pig heads, each marked with the word “Macron” in blue ink, were left outside their front doors.

A few months later, three men from #Serbia were convicted of the crime in their home country. They had been directed, the verdicts read, by “structures of the intelligence service of the Russian Federation” in an effort to incite unrest and intolerance.

Now, a cache of leaked documents obtained by reporters from Delfi Estonia and shared with OCCRP and other media partners pulls back the curtain on that provocation. The files showcase the meticulous internal planning that went into the operation, shed new light on who was behind it, and unveil a swathe of other pro-Kremlin influence efforts across Europe and beyond.

According to #OSINT researcher Clement Moulin #Ukraine built 1300 km of fortification lines in the past few months alone. Here’s some photos how these lines look like - there’s several lines of anti-tank ditches filled with concertina wire, then concertina on top, then dragon’s teeth and again concertina.

So far these lines that were built in the last years had proven to be a huge obstacle for #Russia assault troops to cross. Vehicles don’t even reach them due to drones, soldiers who try to sneak through them usually get stuck in ditches and wires, and get finished off by drones. The mechanics of these obstacles plays along the Ukraine’s strategy of maximising Russian losses without exposing their own soldiers.

In #Poland there was one interesting figure Iwo Czerniawski that was active on the left-wing scene back in 2000’s but since then largely became disillusioned, cynical and retracted himself from political life. Nonetheless, I’ve recently stumbled upon one of his few public statements made in 2022[^1] and wanted to highlight it, as it’s a textbook example of the mess that long-term exposure to #Marxism historical materialism makes of people’s brains.

There are a number of reasons why this had to happen. Russian intervention in Ukraine was inevitable. This is not a conflict between Russia and Ukraine. It is an attempt to establish a new geopolitical order, according to the experts responsible for shaping Russia’s current policy – a measures deemed essential to safeguard Russian statehood.

Let’s hold here - “measures deemed essential to safeguard Russian statehood” – which statehood exactly and “deemed essential” by whom?

“Deemed essential” by Putin in order to protect Putin’s self-perpetuating kleptocracy? That’s the only context where this statement makes sense semantically.

But what exactly laws of physics compel Russian society to live under such a system? Did anyone actually ask Russian society if they want to live under such “statehood” and “protect it”?

Well, obviously there’s no objective reasons for any of the above. This thinking where “Russia is compelled” it is solely the result of the internalisation of historical determinism, which is extremely contagious among former Marxists. In other words, they believe “Russia must” do things because that is what the “iron laws of history” dictate. And this is, of course, pseudoscientific nonsense, a kind of quasi-religious belief with no factual evidence.

In the quoted paragraph, we find plenty of these “musts”. Let me highlight the sheer absurdity of this narrative – on the one hand, Russia is the largest country in the world and Putin the most powerful ruler, and all it takes is for Putin to “raise an eyebrow for Kyiv to fall” (a direct quote from Solovyov).

And at the same time, this omnipotent Putin and this mighty Russia are constantly “having to” do something. First, he “had to” take over all state and public media; then he “had to” kill journalists; then he “had to” violate the constitution by running for a third term; then he “had to” annex Crimea, and so on. Now he has reached the stage where he “has to” put 1.5 million Russians through the meat grinder… for what exactly? To capture Pleshchiyivka in the Donetsk Oblast?

The double think of people who subscribe to this strange brand of historicism lies precisely in the fact that, on the one hand, with a certain masochistic zeal, they admire Putin’s omnipotent, extremely authoritarian system, which is not constrained by all this “democratic drivel”; and on the other hand, in the very same breath, they deny Putin any agency whatsoever, reducing him to the role of a passive pawn of some mysterious laws of history. And they switch between these entirely opposing narratives as they wish.

Well, but when it comes to double think, fans of Marxism and materialist dialectics have never had a problem. 😉
