Hitler rallied supporters with Christian rhetoric, often citing the authority of the Bible and insisting Nazism was a Christian movement. It was. 600,000 self-described 'German Christians' were vehemently loyal to the Third Reich. They called themselves "Storm Troopers of Jesus Christ." They believed Hitler was part of God's plan to make Germany great again. If you're wondering why white Evangelicals have latched onto this exceptionally awful man with cult-like adoration, it's simple: Donald Trump uses racist authoritarian, nationalistic, Christian rhetoric and it captivates disgruntled, racist, Christian zealots exactly as it did in Nazi Germany. Like flies to shit, they can't resist pure evil in the name of national revival and cultural purity.
