    @bot yep, seems like IRL it only flashes the blue light as it snaps into a supercritical state.

    I could have multiple different modes in the final product, but idk yet, might just have a realistic mode and a pulse mode. Since it's using a microcontroller I can change the function of sensor -> brightness to whatever using code

    What's being shown in the video is just a Hall effect sensor's output into the chip reading the voltage level, then taking that voltage level and adjusting the light's brightness. Since I'm not interested in measuring the other side of the magnet there is circuitry that cuts the output of the sensor down the middle and stretches it out to 0volts -> max volts

    trying to simulate the increasing radiation (by having the blue light grow in intensity) as the cap is lowered. In the video I'm moving a magnet near a sensor, then adjusting sensitivity of that sensor with the screwdriver

      Demon core
      The demon core was a spherical 6.2-kilogram (14 lb) subcritical mass of plutonium 89 millimeters (3.5 in) in diameter, manufactured during World War II by the United States nuclear weapon development effort, the Manhattan Project, as a fissile core for an early atomic bomb. The core was prepared for shipment as part of the third nuclear weapon to be used in Japan, but when Japan surrendered, the core was retained at Los Alamos for testing and potential later use. It was involved in two criticality accidents at the Los Alamos Laboratory on August 21, 1945, and May 21, 1946, each resulting in a fatality. Both experiments were designed to demonstrate how close the core was to criticality with a tamper, but in each case, the core was accidentally placed into a critical configuration. Physicists Harry Daghlian and Louis Slotin suffered acute radiation syndrome (ARS) and died soon after, while others present in the lab were also exposed.     let's hope everything works this time, REV 1 was a failure because I "ordered the PCBs without verifying the footprints"

    I already know REV 2 won't be final, been working on firmware to replace the power switch (and hope to replace the little trim pot too)

    it worked 😓 still not 100% sure how to make the sensor react the same no matter what side is lifted. Might end up just centering the sensor and using a surface mount LED next to it with a ring of 5 or 6 little magnets embedding in the top? Just from fiddling, it might even be best to have them at a 45deg angle
