the three steps of how platforms fail: grow by serving customers, betray the customers by serving the business partners, betray the business partners to try to take all the value for itself. the next step is to either die, or use some money to buy a sweet government monopoly

If someone would just read the damn spec and then write a performant fully covering implementation, it could replace: Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, Facebook Groups, Facebook Events, Disqus, Meetup, Reddit, Hackernews, Discourse, Slashdot, LiveJournal, etc. Basically everything that is not realtime chat.
