@freemo Seems a bit odd to me now. Cancer, so I'm trying not to lose any more weight. Funny little pots of gunk to eat. Spent my whole working life trying not to put it on and it takes some getting used to!

@freemo There are some who believe it should be a deterrent and so designed against 'scroungers'. Sometimes this is said openly in the UK.

@freemo Yes, most of them feature a desire to make them punitive. We moved on from 'debtors prison' and workhouses, but only just. There remains a view that folk will work harder to avoid an unpleasant system but they never have.

@freemo It is too easy to mess it up and there are pitfalls too. The UK 'universal credit' is an example.

@freemo I've never seen any argument for folk not working when getting UBI, but that it sits under incomes as a financial safety net for most cases. Some cases may need more money or other forms of welfare but UBI would catch most cases.

@freemo If you carry one here, cops come very quickly. Of course, they haven't got one, so they are at a disadvantage. They can have a stick, though.

@freemo Makes flames with free gases. Water's funny stuff though, might be about the phase change allowing easier dissociation.

@freemo Yes, it is curious how steam seems to work better than water. I suspect it's more about heat transfer than anything else.

@freemo There are not many that you could get to that temp without melting, including steel. It's when we use steam it happens most.

@freemo Usually needs to be a little more yellow than red, but you do see in when working steel.

@freemo My boss who owns the landscaping firm where I work as occasional labourer shovelling shit from one place to another. She would call it "poo", though.
