Prediction: Now that modern computing is going the way it goes (pricing, "AI", the bunch of rich ignorants running the show), I guess we are going to see another renaissance of #vintagecomputing #permacomputing and #retrocomputing. And I’m absolutely and utterly here for that.

Tidying up the lab and going through boxes.

I have around 10 times as many joysticks as I have hands to use them. (Not counting the ones that don’t work.)

I just ordered the Commodore TAC-2 remake.

If you want to position yourself as a "digital detox" brand, maybe don’t use genAI and corporate social media quite so excessively in your marketing. It might come across as a bit phoney (pun intended).

Unpopular opinion:

The vast majority of people won’t notice any difference between a real SID chip and the latest replacements/emulations in a blind test. I include myself, especially for the newer 8580 SIDs. My hearing is quite good and I’m a trained audio engineer.

DON‘T rip SIDs out of C64s!

@mos_8502 One little thing I noticed: the game doesn't want to start up when I'm using the Final Cartridge III fastloader. It just resets to BASIC when it tries to load the additional files from the disk image after RUNning. Works flawlessly with the fastload disabled. (I used an original C64 with the 1541 Ultimate cart, going to test with other hardware combinations soon.)

The main attraction seems to have made it over more or less intact thankfully. Will have to inspect the innards more closely, of course (it needs repaired anyway). It’s huuuge and clunky and gorgeous and best of all, it’s mine now!!
