Daily #Wales is a bit different today: I’m starting a Woolly Wales sequence of pics, all summery because wool isn’t just for winter (honest)…

First, local sheepdog trials in the shadow (literally - it was behind me) of Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon.

Daily woolly #Wales today comes from the National Wool Museum. It’s a teasel gig which was used to ‘raise the nap’ on finished cloth, making it softer. Teasels have been used for this through centuries; this machine, though, is electric and contains - apparently, I did not count them - 3000 teasel heads…

@louisa_ I was rather surprised by it too - it’s a great marriage of tradition and (then) modernity

Daily #Wales with a few people attempting to have a ‘summer’ holiday on the beach in Barmouth / Abermaw. You can just see Ynys Enlli aka Bardsey on the horizon, too.

(I am probably in a minority, but I don’t actually mind this chilly weather. Honestly)

Daily #Wales this morning is another painting of our area by John Sell Cotman … and I’m still Covid positive. And still coughing (though otherwise much better). Hrrrumpf.

This is Dolgellau, in the early nineteenth century. I drive over that bridge every time I go to the dentist. Which ought to be today. Hrrumpf squared.

Daily #Wales today comes with added Covid (booooo). First time since I caught my original bout leading to Long Bastard in March ‘20, and not surprising as there’s a lot of it about. Not too bad. Have a travel poster (but probably best not use the train ATM, or at least not the school train).
