Does anyone have experience in #pixelfed server migration? I would like to switch from pixelfed.social to gram.social because it doesn’t feel safe to have all my #data stored on a server in the #US. Any recommendation how to make sure my content data doesn’t get lost on its way?

Hello dear #loops community! Some time ago, I saw that one could add a #still to one’s videos in the browser (not the app), but my screenshot didn’t have the right size. I wanted to give it a second try but can’t find this function at all anymore. Can someone help me out?

@dansup Not sure about this. I couldn’t upload any more vlog videos for over 2 weeks now. My videos used to be resized automatically and resolution was fine. Recently they get rejected. When I reduce them to less than 40mb myself the subtitles become very blurry. I’m thinking about setting up a server with a fork that allows higher resolution uploads. The Fediverse is not the place for 4k corporate resolution but subtitles should be visible, don’t they? Otherwise loops becomes very frustrating..

To my followers on #loops: Sry for not uploading any more #vlog #videos on my #bikepacking trip to #barcelona, there seems to be a #bug both on the iOS app and the browser. When reducing the video files to 40mb the video and subtitles become very blurry, so I prefer to wait until this is fixed soon hopefully (until now the file was reduced automatically when uploading and the result was not as bad quality as when I reduce it myself)

@graves501 See @dansup (thx!) response. Ok, I understand - I imagine coding to be a very time consuming thing but wanted to ask just in case :)

@dansup Thanks for the answer!! I already sent this embed explanation to @sebbiebikes but aparennetly it didn’t work. And what about the lack of 40mb converter? Is this a bug or related to browser use?

Questions on behalf of a fellow bikepacker (@sebbiebikes) who recently joined the fediverse:
1. Is the 40mb limit on #loops videos still a thing? @dansup
2. Apparently, for some users loops doesn’t convert videos automatically. May this be caused by #android app or browser (iOS app converts without any problem) or is this a bug to be fixed?
3. Can the loops and/or #pixelfed be connected to raster views on websites? Is this something to be programmed on side of the website?

Well, I guess with almost 550 followers I‘m not considered to be a “popular creator” on #loops .. Why is “popular” such a contested term anyways? 🫠 Looking forward to create some #cycling starterkits myself soon!

@dansup Thanks for the explanation! I find it weird however. Isn’t there another way to make sure new people get their feed full with content (they actually chose to follow)?

Here’s a question I ask myself with genuine curiosity and worries about the first impression newbies get of the Fediverse: When people join the pixelfed.social server, they automatically follow @dansup. Am I the only person to find that weird and somehow unprofessional? #pixelfed #fediverse #pixelfedsocial
