I’m SO RELIEVED because i love pasta, foccacia, ciabatta, pastries… life would be way bleaker without it all

doing slightly better, still sleeping like shit because of pain and i can’t take painkillers anymore, but various meds are keeping me functioning throughout the day. sometimes i even go for a walk or get to study. that’s not too bad.

going for an MRI tomorrow. all of my organs will be ultra-scanned

the CT scan came back saying i don’t have cancer so that’s good at least… don’t know about the MRI yet but I’m also going to a gastroentrologist before I’ll finally meet the endo surgeon, so I guess we’re trying to exclude non-endo causes as much as possible. it sucks because adhesions and surface endo is NOT visible on MRI, ultrasound or CT, and the only way to diagnose and excise it is via laporascopic surgery, so all hope lies currently on one surgeon I haven’t even met yet

I’ve been to the gastroentrologist now and the consensus is that at least I don’t have any tumors anywhere that would change the shape of the organs, but my pain is very non-typical for gastric issues, nevertheless she will perform a colonoscopy next week and I’ll be meeting my endo surgeon too.

I had some better days where I actually enjoyed life and had maybe 5/10 pain most of the time and started believing I could get back to work, but my period or whatever this is came back and now I’m in 10/10 ”please kill me, my insides are trying to kill me” pain for two days. Just trying to numb it any way I can to fall asleep.

And my blood serum results came back, with ”possible autoimmune disease”. :/

why are old men hitting on me

My grandpa programmed and downloaded movies and books via torrents even when he was 86 so I don’t think it’s an age thing, it’s kind of like she never thought it’s worthwhile to understand so she focused on other things. However, I can tell that it’s going to be really overwhelming for her to start programming without knowing what it means to e.g write to a text file via a script, or how to search for things properly, even how to use the internet securely. If there’s something like “computers/your OS for dummies” and someone has experience with it, I’d be grateful.

My mum wants to learn programming as a hobby, but she’s very computer illiterate and while I think Automating The Boring Stuff With Python could be a great book for her, I’d like her to learn what files are in her OS, what does OS even mean, what is a browser and how it works, what are programs and what is a terminal interface, how to search for things properly on the internet, how to distinguish fake news and info from legitimate, how email works, etc without too many technical details. She doesn’t know what any of this means and I’m afraid that it’s going to be a stumbling block. I know that libraries probably offer something like this but she definitely wouldn’t attend a course, so it needs to be a book or an online course.

She’s a scientist but she’s somehow managed to only use Word, Excel and SPSS, her work email of 20 years, doesn’t use the phone for anything but calling or messaging and doesn’t know how to close apps and things in her phone. I’m sure the programming aspect would be fine, but she really has to learn how various things work in her computer as well. Of course, I would also teach her, but it would be great if there’s something to get her started.
