I submitted my taxes electronically yesterday and they were accepted quickly, so we will see...while I was filling out my personal information, I was tempted to enter, "Ask Elon".
Oddly, the protests are hardly mentioned on the news, but the sane washing of an on going coup continues.
The Fourth Estate is nonexistent.

This is a 2 part post.

Part One

I am one of the most boring people you could ever meet. I worked as an RN for over 43 years, raised a son, and kept my nose to the grindstone. I didn't travel much when I was working and raising my son because I thought I would do that AFTER he was grown and I was retired. Didn't count on getting divorced in my middle 50's, so retirement went on the back burner a bit. I still managed to buy a small home I intended on making my last home.
Then COVID hit.

Working in the hospital during the first wave of COVID was beyond intense, and I had seen more than most in my career. I retired a year short of my goal of 70 at a huge cost financially. I wanted to get out alive. Because I have an underlying condition that puts me at high risk for death with COVID, I have been extremely careful with travel. Only going to Maui because I have a dear friend who retired there.
So? What's your point Michelle?

I applied for my first passport today.

Part Two

I'll bet you are thinking I'm going to start doing the traveling I envisioned prior to retirement.
Nope.
I want options. I no longer recognize this country. I may do some travel, but it will be with an eye for a possible home. My linguistic skills are limited as are my finances so it may not come to fruition, but I want options.
I was a good citizen. I never missed a vote, volunteered in classrooms, I worked hard and treated my neighbors as I wanted to be treated.
It wasn't enough.

I initially wanted Mark Kelly as the VP, but Tim Walz is clearly the better choice.
I wish Tim Walz was my father and I'm OLDER than he is! What a guy!

At the rip old age of none of your business, I find the world to be a hostile place. Considering I grew up dirt poor with a smart but emotionally unstable single mother in the 60's, this is quite a statement. Being a good citizen is not a part time job. It is never going to be one and done. We have to vote in every election, no matter how small. Every election counts, every vote counts. I have a lot more time in back of me, than in front of me and I want to leave this world in better shape than it is now. Times a wasting. Let's get this done.
Vote Blue like your life depends on it, because it does.
