I still can't find a good graphical text editor

any recommendations? I'd like it to:
- not involve electron in any way (or be built on top of any browser for that matter)
- not pull in all the KDE stuff
- have publicly available source code that compiles

I think it's just more about making these odd pieces fit the rest of the system than anything else
