Gaza families endure severe weather as tents blocked from entry amid humanitarian crisis

    By Tareq Abu Azzoum

    Reporting from Deir el-Balah, Gaza

We have heard from the Gaza Media Office that about 288,000 Palestinian families are suffering harsh weather conditions as Israel continues to restrict the entry of humanitarian supplies, primarily the entry of much-needed makeshift tents.

The humanitarian crisis is really spiralling out of control. Civilians in Gaza need, according to the media office, about 300,000 tents and mobile houses to house hundreds of thousands of families who have been badly impacted by the rain and flooding. They live in heavily damaged, dirty and flooded tents. Many are left stranded without any shelter.

That’s why some families have taken refuge in already overcrowded shelters, while others were trying to find refuge in whatever is left standing in Gaza City or in the south of the Strip.

The media office has called the US president to exert pressure on Israel to uphold its commitments to the ceasefire agreement, especially when it comes to the implementation of the humanitarian protocol.

@aral 💯 Let us never forget that the destructive Neo-liberalism history is connected with two names : Ronald Reagan (USA) and "iron 🤢 lady" Margaret Thatcher (UK). And with Reagan the Heritage Foundation flourished, eventually resulting in Project 2025 used by the Trump MAGA (fa) monsters in charge. https://www.project2025.observer #uspol

Tommy Robinson found not guilty over border stop terror charge

Far-right figure was driving Bentley to Benidorm with thousands of pounds in cash when he was stopped by police, court heard

Tommy Robinson has been found not guilty after being accused of a terror offence over refusing to give police access to his phone when he was stopped at the border in a Bentley with thousands of pounds in cash.

Robinson, 42, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was driving a silver Bentayga SUV to the Spanish tourist hotspot of Benidorm when he was stopped by officers at the Channel Tunnel last year, a court heard.

Police were suspicious of the 42-year-old’s “vague replies” about what he was doing and demanded access to his iPhone under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act, which gives police the power to stop anyone passing through a UK port “to determine whether they may be involved or concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism”.

UK foreign secretary urges Israel says ‘no excuse’ for blocking aid

The UK’s Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has said Israel has “no excuse” for delaying aid to Palestinians in Gaza and called for a Jordanian route to be opened from a warehouse full of aid intended for Gaza in the country.

“In this warehouse alone, there is enough wheat to feed 700,000 people for a month, and yet we still have children in Gaza going hungry. This is just wrong,” Cooper told Channel 4 in an interview.

Cooper has been visiting several countries in the Middle East.

"Spain expresses regret over ‘injustice’ suffered by Mexico’s Indigenous people during conquest

Acknowledgment shows shift in tone after six years of diplomatic spats over colonial-era abuses

Spain has acknowledged and expressed regret over the “pain and injustice” suffered by the Indigenous people of Mexico during its conquest of the Americas, heralding a shift in tone after six years of diplomatic spats over the abuses of the colonial period.
    ,,,,,,,
On Friday, however, the Spanish government signalled a more conciliatory and penitent approach. Speaking at the inauguration of an exhibition in Madrid dedicated to the Indigenous women of Mexico, Spain’s foreign minister, José Manuel Albares, reflected on the countries’ joint history.
    ,,,,,,,
The conquest of Mexico began in 1519 when Hernán Cortés led hundreds of soldiers, equipped with horses, carrying diseases such as smallpox and abetted by Indigenous groups at odds with the Aztecs, to Mexico City, then known as Tenochtitlán.

The Spanish sacked the city two years later and proceeded to convert the Indigenous populations to Catholicism."

Year of settler violence has changed landscape of occupied West Bank

Having been absent for a year, I almost didn’t recognise the road from Jericho to Ramallah. Entire communities in the Jordan Valley, Bedouin communities, have disappeared. All I saw was what remained of their homes and barns. They were torn down and burned by Israeli settlers.

I did see several young Israeli settlers, armed, taking over the land, putting up fences to mark their new claimed territory, setting up an outpost with an Israeli flag. When I tried to pull out my phone and take pictures or capture this on video, the driver I was with asked me not to do that because he didn’t want to be marked by the Israeli settlers, who roam the area freely and who can call the Israeli army. He lives in the Jordan Valley, and he feared retribution.

So really, it’s quite remarkable in the span of 12 months how much has changed and the freedom with which Israeli settlers roam.

While Netanyahu now has to play nice with Trump and adhere to the ceasefire, as far as Israel is concerned, in the occupied West Bank, the agenda of this government is of taking over land, of allowing settlers to not only take up more arms, but to use them quite freely and to assist them by deploying the Israeli army.

"Israel would lose ‘all support’ from the US if it annexes West Bank, Trump warns
VP Vance says Knesset preliminary vote on matter was ‘very stupid’ and an insult to him, marring warm 2-day visit; US president predicts Saudi normalization by year’s end

Seemingly putting the kibosh on the Israeli right’s dream of applying sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, US President Donald Trump has said Israel would lose “all support” from the United States if it tried to move ahead with annexation.

The comments published Thursday by Time magazine were made by Trump during an October 15 interview, prior to the Knesset’s passage on Wednesday — in a preliminary reading and against the prime minister’s wishes — of a bill that would apply Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements. Underlining the administration’s lack of patience for such efforts, Trump’s deputy JD Vance said Thursday as he departed Israel that the previous day’s vote had offended him and was “very stupid.”"

"Jewish Voice for Peace Protesters Occupy Senator Cory Booker’s Office Building Lobby

In New Jersey, protesters led by Jewish Voice for Peace on Thursday occupied the lobby of a Newark high-rise that’s home to an office of Democratic Senator Cory Booker. Protesters wore shirts reading “Stop Arming Israel” and carried messages including “Booker Let Gaza Live” and “Booker Stop Funding Genocide.” They cited Senator Booker’s votes to send $26 billion to support Israel’s assault on Gaza last year and to eliminate funding to the U.N. relief agency for Palestinian refugees. Booker also voted against Bernie Sanders’s joint resolutions of disapproval to block U.S. arms transfers to Israel."

"Cory Booker has consistently been one of the Democratic Party's most vocal supporters of Israel. His dedication is evident through frequent trips to Israel and participation in AIPAC's policy conferences. Booker even took to the Senate floor to commend Israel during the intense 2014 Gaza conflict. Notably, he was the sole Democratic co-sponsor of the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, a controversial bill that aimed to criminalize support for the BDS movement in specific scenarios, drawing criticism from free speech advocates.

As one of AIPAC's bought politicians, Booker continues to insist on Israel's right to exist while never speaking about the rights of Palestinians with statements such as, "...we must redouble our efforts toward achieving a lasting peace that guarantees Israel's right to exist as Jewish and democratic state.""

Ben-Gvir urges Netanyahu to resume attacks on Gaza

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is calling on Netanyahu to return to attacks on Gaza.

He is part of a broad but fragile right-wing coalition holding Netanyahu’s government together.

In a post on X, Ben-Gvir said he wanted the Israeli army to “fully resume combat in the Gaza Strip with maximum force”.

His statement comes after Israeli media said several air raids were carried out across Gaza this morning.

Bezalel Smotrich, the finance minister posted: “War!”

UK protesters take to streets despite criticism from PM Starmer

The demonstration is making its way around four different universities in London. It started at Kings College. Then it went to the London School of Economics and then to University College London and the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer wrote a piece in The Times newspaper in which he basically said: On the anniversary of the atrocities of October 7, students are once again planning protests. This is not who we are as a country. It is ‘un-British’ to have so little respect for others.

He is also clearly linking the demonstrations in support of Palestine with anti-Semitism. He says, particularly on October 7, the day should be left free as a day of mourning for Jewish people.

The people I’ve been speaking to here have a different perspective. They say they’re displaying empathy for everyone by coming out and demonstrating.

Genocide, as they see it, is the primary evil of this situation, and it would be remiss of them not to come out and protest on this day – or any other day.

"Defend Our Juries, who organised the demonstration, said the protest “will go ahead as planned”, PA Media reports.

In a letter of response to Scotland Yard, it said: “The protection of our democracy and the prevention of countless deaths are critical issues. Therefore, our protest will go ahead as planned for this Saturday.

“We urge you, therefore, to choose to prioritise protecting the community, rather than arresting those peacefully holding signs in opposition to the absurd and draconian ban of a domestic direct action group.

“We hope you make the right choice to not arrest those taking part, and correctly deploy counter-terrorism resources this weekend.”
