Congress, the judicial branch, the Cabinet…all and more are complicit in enabling <all of this>.

The author of this well-written article tries to put a brave face on American society but I think he ultimately fails. He says, "America’s problems are solved problems." He means the issues facing everyday American society - health care, affordable higher education, sensible gun regulation, paid parental leave, etc. are problems that have been (mostly) solved elsewhere in the Western world to varying degrees.
